An 8-year-old child drowned in a water theme park in Alor Gajah
ALOR GAJAH: An eight-year-old girl was found drowned in an incident at a water theme park, here, on Tuesday.
Alor Gajah District Police Chief, Superintendent Arshad Abu said, the victim, Puteri Sofea Hanis Dania Jamaluddin was said to be present at the theme park with her mother and 78 other families from Kampung Sungai Tuan Seth Community, Tanjung Sedili, Kota Tinggi, Johor.
“The police initially received a phone call at about 3.15pm from the emergency department of Alor Gajah Hospital, informing them that the victim had drowned and was unconscious.
“During the drowning incident, the staff of the water theme park performed a rescue before taking the victim to Alor Gajah Hospital for treatment.
“Preliminary investigations found that the area of the pool is approximately 445 square meters where the pool will ripple for 10 minutes every 20 minutes and the incident is believed to have occurred at the edge of the pool near an artificial island with a depth of about one meter,” he said in a statement. released, here, today.
Commenting further, he said, the child together with her mother and the community where she lives moved at 6.45am before arriving at the theme park at 11am and continuing with leisure activities.
The victim was scheduled to return home on the same day and the autopsy revealed that the cause of death was drowning.
“The Chairman of the Office of the Ukhwah Relaxation Program stated that the program was only held for one day and not overnight.
“The investigation so far has found no element of crime and the case is classified as sudden death,” he added.
