Amir Jahari apologizes to Mas Ermieyati

KUALA LUMPUR: After the controversy over the use of Hasrat’s song, singer and composer, Amir Jahari came forward to apologize to the Vice-Chairman of the Bersatu Malaysian Indigenous Party (Bersatu), Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.

Through a post on the Twitter page on Tuesday, Amir or his full name is Mohamad Amirullah Jahari said that the apology was made for his mistake in choosing words and a bad way in making a reprimand during the day.

“I hope Yang Berhormat Mas Ermieyati is willing to forgive all my mistakes.

“This incident taught me a great lesson to be more careful with my manners and my words to older people and fellow human beings,” he said in the entry today.

However, the singer who was born in Kuching, Sarawak insisted that his position is the same not to allow his work to be used by anyone for political purposes and things that can spoil the situation.

The singer of Pengibur Jalanan added that the apology was not made because he received a letter or was visited by any individual representing Mas Ermieyati who is also a Member of Parliament for Masjid Tanah.

“I explained, no letter was sent, no YB person came, this is just a way for me to improve myself.

“It’s a bit harsh in the way I reprimanded, but I still maintain that my song is not for a political agenda, that’s all. Stop all the hate, spread love,” he wrote again.

Astro AWANI previously reported that Mas Ermieyati apologized to Amir for using the theme song of the movie Imaginur, Hasrat as background music for a video broadcast while in the Kuala Lumpur Court following the prosecution of the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin case on Friday.

Mas Ermieyati explained that he is ready to re-download the broadcast using the song in question and ‘replace’ it with another song such as a nasyid song or a song by the singer, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza.
