Aliff Syukri raya video clip: MCMC calls individuals involved tomorrow – Annuar
KUALA LUMPUR: The Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will call on individuals involved in music video clips in conjunction with Aidilfitri linked to cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman which caused controversy recently.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the identified individuals had been given notice and asked to appear at the MCMC headquarters in Cyberjaya tomorrow morning.
“The MCMC has been thorough at the preliminary stage, and there is reason for an investigation to be carried out, and thus an investigation paper has been opened to investigate this matter under section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said.
He said this to the media after attending the Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) and Malaysian Film Development Corporation (FINAS) Iftar Ceremony with MenKOMM (Minister of Communications and Multimedia) here today.
The Raya video clip, which showed a group of male dancers with make-up and gentle behavior, triggered various reactions because it was said to be less suitable for public viewing, especially during the month of Ramadan.
Annuar also confirmed that the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) received too many complaints, including from the Prime Minister’s Department, especially Religious Affairs and the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) regarding the video clip.
He said the concern arose because the video clip had certain elements that contradicted the practices and norms of the country’s society.
Meanwhile, Annuar said the Cabinet had agreed to terminate the Tagalog -language RTM radio broadcast as it was found to be no longer effective, and the number of listeners was also declining.
“Once upon a time, RTM had a special radio channel in Filipino or Tagalog, especially for the convenience of some residents in Sabah or the Southern Philippines.
“The regular FM broadcasts available in Sabah are considered sufficient and the national and local languages become quite effective through the existing radio channels,” he said.
