AKM Kelantan: ‘Up to RM12,000’ – Many were surprised to learn that they had unclaimed money

KOTA BHARU: A visitor was surprised to be informed that he had unclaimed money amounting to RM12,000 as a result of his inspection at the Unclaimed Money (WTD) counter set up in conjunction with the Malaysian Family Aspirations Tour (AKM) Kelantan program at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, here.

According to Kelantan National Accountant’s Department WTD Unit Head Nur Anis Sahibudin, the scenario was one of the interesting ‘stories’ throughout the two days the counter has been operating since Friday.

“As of yesterday, 1,273 people have come to check at this counter. On average, they look shocked because they don’t know they have unclaimed money.

“The inspection counter provided is indirectly an opportunity and awareness in addition to making it easier for visitors to carry out inspections if they have unclaimed money, just give the staff an identification card and they will help carry out inspections,” he told Bernama, today.

Nur Anis said besides at the counter, the public can also check WTD through the eGUMIS portal.

A visitor Mohamad Amsyari Mohamad Suhaimi, 40, said he knew about the unclaimed money but did not have time to check.

“I checked earlier that there was unclaimed money in a bank amounting to more than RM500, maybe the balance was from when I was studying… it’s been so long I can’t remember at all.

“It’s good to have this kind of service in the AKM Kelantan Tour program,” he said.

AKM Kelantan’s tour which started on Friday will end today.
