YANG di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the King Queen, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandaria agreed to pay a courtesy call on King Charles III at Buckingham Palace in London, United Kingdom (UK), on Wednesday.

The National Palace in a statement today announced the courtesy visit in conjunction with His Majesty’s two special visits to London, from 10 to 16 October 2022.

According to Datuk Pengelola Dirajaya Istana Negara, Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, the 40-minute courtesy visit started at 3pm local time with His Majesty King Charles III agreeing to meet and be friendly with His Majesty both.

“His Majesty King Charles III and His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong also touched on issues of bilateral relations between Malaysia and the UK including environmental issues and the launch of Battersea Power Station, an iconic Malaysian investment property project in London which will be inaugurated by His Majesty His Majesty after the courtesy visit session.

“The departure of His Majesty the two to pay a courtesy visit reflects the closeness of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with His Majesty King Charles III.

“The two leaders have been friends for over four decades, starting with playing polo together as teenagers at various levels of international tournaments.

“This courtesy visit, which is also the second meeting between the two leaders this year, also reflects the close bilateral relationship between Malaysia and the United Kingdom since independence 65 years ago,” he said.

On 18 September 2022, Their Majesties both agreed to attend the Reception with His Majesty King Charles III hosted by His Majesty at Buckingham Palace.

Their Majesties also agreed to attend the state funeral ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on 19 September 2022.
