Agong, Raja Permaisuri expressed his condolences to the family of Rohana Jalil

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today expressed his condolences to the entire family of the country’s art activist, Rohana Jalil who died yesterday.

Also expressing condolences was the King Queen Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

Through a post on the Istana Negara Facebook page, His Majesty both described the passing of the deceased as a great loss to the art world of the country.

“Your Majesty both expressed sadness at the passing of the deceased and expressed the hope that the entire family of the deceased would be patient and persevere in the face of this sad and painful situation,” according to the message.

Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah also prayed that the soul of the deceased may be blessed by Allah SWT and be placed with those who believe and do righteous deeds.

Rohana Jalil or real name Dara Abdul Jalil, 68, has been treated in hospital since last April due to intestinal leakage and had to be placed in the monitoring ward.

The deceased, who hails from Kota Tinggi, Johor, started venturing into the arts after winning the Bintang RTM (Radio Television Malaysia) competition in 1980.

During her four decades in the music industry, Allahyarham has recorded more than 20 albums including compilation albums and special projects.

Among his popular songs are Rayuanku, Resahku and Naluri Cinta, a duet with To’ki.
