Agong, Permaisuri departs for the 2023 MAIWP Carnival

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah today agreed to go to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Carnival (MAIWP) 2023 at Dataran Merdeka.

At the ceremony, Al-Sultan Abdullah agreed to complete the launch of the first-ever carnival.

His Majesty then awarded the MAIWP Entrepreneur Icon award to Robiatul Adawiah Ibrahim, entrepreneur of Rabi brand durian crepe products, as a result of guidance and education from MAIWP.

His Majesty also bestowed the MAIWP Education Icon award to Dr Muhammad Ameerullah Sahudin who is a senior lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, University of Malaya.

Muhammad Ameerullah is a former MAIWP Middle School student who received MAIWP fisabilillah zakat assistance throughout his schooling and studies at a higher education institution.

The two award recipients took home a certificate of appreciation, a plaque and a check amounting to RM3,000.

Before leaving for home, both Seri Paduka agreed to spend time inspecting and visiting the stalls of MAIWP entrepreneurs as well as greeting carnival visitors.

The carnival which lasted for two days starting today, gave the community an opportunity to approach MAIWP.

It combines sales exhibitions of asnaf entrepreneurs, services from educational and health institutions under the MAIWP as well as various other activities.

With the theme of Empowering and Entrepreneurial-Towards 50 Years of MAIWP Excellence, a total of 100 stalls were prepared at the carnival that showcased the products of MAIWP’s asnaf entrepreneurs. Also speaking was the agency’s strategic partner.

Tonight, visitors will be treated to an Unarmed Combat performance by the Malaysian Army and a performance by the popular nasyid group Rabbani.

Among the events taking place tomorrow is the MAIWP Run 2023 and the Walimatul Urus Perdana involving 100 newlyweds consisting of asnaf, fakir, poor and new relatives who will be paraded on the Hop on Hop Off KL bus around Jalan Raja Laut to the carnival site at Dataran Merdeka, to juxtaposed on the throne.

Also present at the ceremony were the Deputy Prime Minister and Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as well as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar and MAIWP Chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar.
