Adidas ends collaboration with Kanye West

LOS ANGELES: Following the anti-semitic (anti-Jewish) statement, the Adidas brand company decided to terminate the contract with the rapper, Kanye West, who is now known as Ye.

Citing a BBC report, Adidas decided to end its partnership with Ye because it described the inflammatory and anti-Semitic speech as excessive.

“Adidas does not tolerate hateful comments. Ye’s recent comments and actions are unacceptable, hateful, dangerous and violate the company’s values of diversity and mutual respect,” the company representative said.

Adidas insisted, the company decided to end all cooperation with Ye immediately, end the production of Yeezy products and stop all payments to Ye and his company.

Earlier, Ye surprised the world after launching a Yeezy fashion show and wearing a T-shirt written “White Lives Matter” at Paris Fashion Week on October 3.

It is understood that Yeezy’s collaboration with Ye recorded the company’s history of success while the cancellation of the contract caused Adidas to suffer a loss of £217 million (RM1.17 billion) in 2022.

At the same time, the Morgan and Gap brands also ended their collaboration with Ye. Gap in a statement announced that the company will withdraw Yeezy Gap products from stores and close the YeezyGap.com website.

Not only that, the Balenciaga brand and Creative Artist Search Agency also cut ties with Ye earlier this October.

For information, Ye once revealed that he was diagnosed with a mental illness in 2018 and informed that he never saw the illness as a weakness but instead described it as giving him many advantages.
