A. G. Cook Surprises Coachella Crowd with Danny Brown Cameo for Charli XCX Remix Performance

The surprise set included a remix of Charli’s viral track ‘Party 4 U’ ahead of her own Coachella appearance

INDIO, Calif., April 13, 2025 – Hyperpop visionary A. G. Cook stunned fans at Coachella on Friday night (April 11) by bringing out rapper Danny Brown for a surprise mid-set appearance, which included a reimagined version of Charli XCX’s cult hit “Party 4 U.”

The performance was part of Cook’s dynamic Coachella showcase, where he drew from his 2024 triple album Britpop and remix projects tied to Charli XCX’s acclaimed album Brat and its follow-up remix compilation Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat.

Midway through the set, the crowd erupted as Danny Brown emerged theatrically from a red telephone booth onstage. The Detroit rapper opened with “Attak”—his explosive 2014 track with Rustie—before jumping into a fresh remix of Charli’s 2020 sleeper hit “Party 4 U.”

Originally released on how i’m feeling now, the track has experienced a viral resurgence in 2025, making Brown’s rendition a timely addition to Cook’s genre-blurring set.

Cook’s Britpop received critical acclaim upon release. The project, divided into Past, Present, and Future sections, was described as a sonically rich reflection on time, emotion, and British identity. “It’s grounded in the very real world,” noted reviewer Tilly Foulkes, “then twisted into something glossy and more beautiful.”

Cook elaborated on the conceptual framework behind Britpop: “It’s a nod to the ’90s scene, but more about contrasting eras. Britain is ancient and futuristic all at once, and I wanted to explore that.” He emphasized that PC Music, the label he co-founded, was never just about futuristic sound design, but a cultural ethos rooted in the present.

Charli XCX, a longtime collaborator of Cook’s and a central figure in the hyperpop movement, is slated to perform her own Coachella set later today (April 12), further amplifying the genre’s presence at this year’s festival.

This year’s Coachella lineup also features headliners including Lady Gaga, Post Malone, Travis Scott, and Green Day. Stay tuned for more live updates and coverage.
