HONG KONG: The human remains found in a house in the village of Tai Po have been confirmed as belonging to the murdered Hong Kong model, Abby Choi Tin-fung.
Citing a South China Morning Post report, DNA tests also confirmed the skull found in a large soup pot and two legs found in a refrigerator in the ground floor flat of the three-story Lung Mei Tsuen house were the bodies of the 28-year-old socialite.
According to the Hong Kong police, however, some parts including Choi’s body and hands have still not been found.
Sources quoted by the SCMP also reported that crime squad officers are checking the possibility that the body parts that have not been found were at the last site where the body was disposed of.
Earlier, the model’s ex-husband, Alex Kwong Kong-chi, along with her father Kwong Kau, mother Jenny Li Sui-heung and brother Anthony Kwong Kong-kit were charged with murdering Choi and remanded without bail.
At the same time, two other suspects were also arrested in connection with the case. One of them, a 41-year-old man, was arrested today for helping criminals but was granted bail after appearing in court.
Last week, the police conducted a three-day search for the body of the missing socialite at a landfill site in Ta Kwu Ling.
This is because based on an examination of closed circuit camera footage, it shows someone trying to dispose of evidence including body parts, clothes, phones and equipment used to kill the victim at the garbage collection point.
However, the police failed to find further evidence after conducting a search in the target area, which is about the size of a football field.
The case of Choi’s murder attracted worldwide media attention after the victim was reported missing on February 21 and several body parts, including his legs, were found on February 24.
