9 foreign GROs arrested, entertainment center without license
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of nine foreign women suspected of working as customer service (GRO) were arrested in a raid at an entertainment center in Jalan Baba off Jalan Pudu here on Wednesday.
Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya said, in the raid at 11pm, a total of nine women aged 30 to 40 were arrested.
“We also arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of being the manager of the premises.
“We seized two speakers, a business receipt, a set of music mixers, a music speaker, a laptop and a set of internet equipment,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
He said the entertainment center was suspected of conducting entertainment activities without a license.
“All the individuals were remanded for four days from Thursday to Sunday to assist the investigation in accordance with Section 4 (1) of the Entertainment Act (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 1992, Section 55b of the Immigration Act 1953/69 and Section 6 (1) (c) of the same act “, he said.
Noor Dellhan said, his party will increase operations and inspections at entertainment premises.
“We will also monitor the activities of pubs and nightclubs that do not comply with the provisions of the law,” he said.
