33 individuals were arrested for drinking alcohol

A total of 33 individuals believed to be Muslims were arrested in an Integrated Operation at the Entertainment Premises early this morning.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in a statement said the action taken by the Federal Territories Department of Islamic Religion (JAWI) involved 25 men and eight women arrested for committing various Sharia offenses related to drinking intoxicating drinks.

“They are detained for further action and JAWI has issued 50 Warrants of Appearance (SPH) to Muslim individuals to appear at the JAWI Enforcement Division through the Syariah Criminal Offenses Act (Federal Territories) (Act 559),” he said in a post on the Facebook page. DBKL today.

The statement said the operation was carried out around Jalan Imbi, Jalan Metro Pudu, Jalan Radin Bagus and Jalan Radin Tengah, Kuala Lumpur starting at 10 last night and ending at 3 this morning.

“In addition to checks and inspections at seven entertainment premises with the Sahabah agency team, inspections were also carried out on visitors and customers who attended involving foreign citizens and local citizens,” he said.

According to the statement, DBKL also took action to close three premises immediately and confiscate equipment under Section 17, Entertainment Act 1992.

“The 17 equipment seized consisted of monitors , DJ spinners, usury computers, mixers, speakers, lighting controllers, cctv decoders, microphones, mic controllers and power amplifiers .

“DBKL also opened three investigation papers (IP) under Sections 4(1)(a) and 4(1)(b) for holding entertainment activities (music/DJ) without permission.

“A compound notice under Rule 29(2), Entertainment Rules (WPKL) 1993 was also issued for allowing underage visitors to enter entertainment premises (nightclubs),” said the statement.

He added that the musical equipment items had been sent to the DBKL Impound Deposit in Jalan Lombong Taman Miharja, Cheras for the purpose of records and temporary storage.

The operation was carried out by DBKL through the Enforcement Department (JPK) and the Licensing and Business Development Department (JPPP) in collaboration with partner agencies consisting of JAWI, the Kuala Lumpur Police, the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and the Federal Territories JIM.
